Nottingham band Scarlet’s Wake have been mixing dirty riffs and growling bass for ten years. Drummer Tweak does the talking… How would you describe your music? We try to blend styles though…

Izzy Bizu on The Graham Norton Show
Just been watching Izzy Bizu perform her latest single Talking To You on The Graham Norton Show on BBC1 which was actually quite good. Izzy has got smooth soft vocals which can reach the high note and was just amazing listening pleasure and her voice just glides through the music. Her single Talking To You has got a nice soft, gospel feel to it, the song’s great, and so’s she. Izzy Bizu came to attention via the BBC Introducing
High Contrast On The Radio
Heard the new single from British producer High Contrast on Radio 1 last night, it’s featured in the new soundtrack to T2 Trainspotting2. It’s called Mouthwash, and I was completely hooked after 20 seconds, that’s how much I loved it. As far as soundtracks go it’s highly energised and is in the same vein as Underworld’s Born Slippy. If you ever get the chance to just listen to it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s even been noted as Hottest Record in The World on Radio 1
Bastille On The Radio
Caught the new song by Bastille, Blame, on Radio 1 whilst on the road this afternoon which sounded really good. Sounds a bit different from some of their other songs and definitely one I would listen to again and again. Lead singer Dan Smith’s voice sounds great as always and just cuts straight through the sound.
Lower Than Atlantis (& co) on The Radio
Found myself listening to Had Enough by Lower Than Atlantis, Ain’t Got Far To Go by Jess Glynne on Radio 1 on the way back from work, and I have to admit, though I’m not a huge fan of Atlantis I found myself enjoying it. Has a mature sound to it. Ain’t Got Far To Go I’ve heard a few times already and already like it. Also there was a special track by Declan McKenna who I mentioned in a previous post. The track was called The Kids Don’t Wanna Come Home and though I only heard 20 seconds worth it sounded good.
Ed Sheeran on The Graham Norton Show
Currently watching Ed Sheeran perform his new single ‘Castle On The Hill’ on The Graham Norton Show on BBC1 right now. What a single, what a comeback and You Need Me, I Don’t Need You seems so long ago now. Just Ed, his guitar and voice and that’s pretty much all you need, seriously, what more do you need. I like how the song switches from slow-pace in the verses to fast verses fast-pace on the chorus. Castle On The Hill is on his new album, Divide (the actual divide symbol). Also in a twist of revelation there’s a guy on the Red Chair called James who just so happens to have been his best mate a school. What are the chances of that!!
