Niall Horan on The Graham Norton Show

The Irish cheeky chappie was back on The Graham Norton Show tonight on BBC1. No, not Graham but Niall Horan from One Direction. Anyways Niall performed his new single Too Much To Ask, and I have admit as melodic as it sounds and as soothing as a voice he may have I’m not much of a fan. I openly admit the song’s not bad but it’s not something that I’ll be rushing to download or buy anytime soon. For me, it’s as if Niall’s trying to be James Morrison and he isn’t quite pulling it off, though I’ll give him credit for trying. There’s also some friendly banter between Colin Farrell, Bryan Cranston Matt Lucas, Nicole Kidman and Jane Fonda. Also Jan reveals some insight behind that infamous police mug-shoot. Apparently the White House had a hand in it. Bet you probably weren’t aware of that were you.?

Liam Gallagher on The Graham Norton Show

Currently watching Liam Gallagher perform his new single, For What it’s Worth, on The Graham Norton Show on BBC1 right now, and it actually sounds really good. I admit I’ve always been Team Noel when it came to the Gallagher brothers but Liam has come out with some good songs over the past couple of year, and For What it’s Worth is great listening pleasure. I could happily listen to this song a few more times over. Also there’s some great banter between Idris Elba, Chris Rock and Kate Winslet and apparently it’s the 20th anniversary. of the hit film Titanic. Don’t time fly by.

Bananarama on The Graham Norton Show

After a very looooooooonng absence our favourite Irish cheeky chappie is back, and not before time on The Graham Norton Show on BBC1. It’s the first episode and he’s joined by one of the most infamous girl-groups of the 80’s Sarah Dalin, Siobahn Fahey and Keren Woodward aka Bananarama. They did a reworking of their hit song Cruel Summer which all I can say still sounds as great to listen to as ever, even after a revamp. Bananarama haven’t lost their touch. Also joining on the sofa are Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling to discuss their new film Blade Runner 2049, also Margot Robbie was tasked with tattooing a member of the audience. It was a smiley face on his toe, all I can say is rather him than me.

Well, after making my way to The Maze in Nottingham during a very warm summers’ day I managed to cool off a bit, after all, I had travelled to see three bands play tonight. Lippstick, a band that were emerging onto the local music scene, in a big way. They’re one of a number of bands waiting to hit the big-time and when you see them perform you’ll see why they’re not far off. Think theatrics meets horror-flicks in terms of band-image. They performed a mixture of both original material as well as a cover Don’t Cha and Sexy Back, re-mastered for a more rock tasting sound. One super fan in the audience got to sing with the lead singer and some point during their set things got interesting when they did another song about hookers. The crowd seemed to like Lippstick. Now I’d seen Parasite before and they just seem to get better every time I hear them perform, though a technical glitch did cause a small problem but other than that it was business as usual. They did attempt a Paradise City cover which actually went down quite well in all fairness. Straight over from Barcelona, Stop-Stop really brought the house down and got the crowds, including myself, towards the edge of the crowd stage. Think Bon Jovi meets Guns & Roses with a bit of Kiss and that’s the best way to sum up these guys. They did a combination of their own material which included a song called Billy No-Mates, which was dedicated to a member of the audience of the same name. They even did one dedicated the front-man’s mum and another to Facebook called Spit It Out. Weird story behind that one. Queen’s song Fat Bottomed Girls got the cover treatment and it true rock fashion a lot of man-flesh was on display. Overall it was a great night.

Ed Sheeran @ Glastonbury 2017

Everyone’s favourite ginger Hip-Hop rock-star Ed Sheeran took to the stage tonight both debuting and headlining the main stage at Glastonbury tonight. Considering that this man was a complete unknown more than 5 years ago he’s come a long way. He Just comes on stage full of energy and is just electrifying to watch as he opened his set with Castle On The Hill. A one-man band Ed treated the crowds to his hit songs including Bloodstream, Galway Girl, Lego House, Eraser and Take It Back/Superstition during his made great use of his rap skills and reminded everyone why he’s a one-man band star in his own right. Seriously this guy’s talents know no bounds, also it’s just him on-stage. The music continued with more songs such as I’m A Mess, Photograph in which he and the crowd sang together. For one of his songs, Nancy Mulligan, he invited a small folk quartette which was really good. Had a an Irish-folk feel to it. Ed continued his set with the incredible Thinking Out Loud, Sing and Shape Of You. He ended both his set and the night with his self-written debut hit You Need Me I Don’t You after by which point the adrenaline was just oozing from all areas. Considering that this was it debut it was amazing, electrifying and pure magic, and it’s safe to say we all witnessed something purely incredible. Even whilst wearing the infamous rainbow flag.
Also Barry Gibb, the eldest of the Gibb brothers and of The Bee Gees performed to a massive crowd during the infamous Legends Slot. He played their infamous hit track Stayin Alive which is guaranteed to get the entire crowd moving, even the stage crew took to the photography pit and joined in.
Sadly there won’t be any Glastonbury next due to it’s fallow year, so see you all again in 2019

Foo Fighters @ Glastonbury 2017

The American rock legends also known as the Foo Fighters are back for another round at the main stage right now, and my word they definitely know how to get the crowds going. Led by the incredible Dave Grohl they’ve been performing many of their hits including Something From Nothing, The Pretender. At numerous times during the performance Dave incited the crowds to dance along with him, as well as general talk. Credit where it’s due though as getting the crowds to do things with you can be a feat in itself, good on you Grohl, good on you. Sometimes you are more than just a rock-star. The Foo’s continued in their set with more songs such as Cold Day In The Sun, Congregation, Walk-Wasting Light, he even dedicated on of their songs, These Days, to his surgeon. Don’t ask. The crowd continued to sing the song even after the band paused mid-way through. Songs continued with My Hero, Wheels, a fresh new one called Run, This Is A Call, Arlandria, Monkey Wrench, Best of You and Skin & Bones. Towards the end of their set they paid homage to Adele (one of last years’ headliners) by saying the F-word 34 times. Adele did swear quite a bit if you can remember. Taylor, the band’s drummer, did a solo Queen number Under Pressure which was actually good. The night ended on the great finale with a rendition of Everlong before getting everyone together for an explosive final complete with fireworks. This will the first time that Foo Fighters have appeared at Glastonbury as they were meant to play two years ago but had to pull out due to Grohl’s injury. For those who can remember he broke his leg during a gig in Sweden
