Izzy Bizu on The Graham Norton Show

Just been watching Izzy Bizu perform her latest single Talking To You on The Graham Norton Show on BBC1 which was actually quite good. Izzy has got smooth soft vocals which can reach the high note and was just amazing listening pleasure and her voice just glides through the music. Her single Talking To You has got a nice soft, gospel feel to it, the song’s great, and so’s she. Izzy Bizu came to attention via the BBC Introducing

High Contrast On The Radio

Heard the new single from British producer High Contrast on Radio 1 last night, it’s featured in the new soundtrack to T2 Trainspotting2. It’s called Mouthwash, and I was completely hooked after 20 seconds, that’s how much I loved it. As far as soundtracks go it’s highly energised and is in the same vein as Underworld’s Born Slippy. If you ever get the chance to just listen to it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s even been noted as Hottest Record in The World on Radio 1

Katie Melua on The Graham Norton Show

Just watching Katie Melua perform her new single ‘The Little Swallow’ with The Gori Women’s Choir on BBC1 at the moment. Granted it starts off on a slow pace before Katie’s voice gradually seeps through, ironically it doesn’t so much as cut through and dominate the other voices but just goes alongside them. A very gospel performance and surprisingly short. The singe’s from her new album In Winter. Though she’s got a great voice can’t say I thought that much of it I’m afraid.

Busted on The Graham Norton Show

Currently listening to Busted perform on the Graham Norton Show on BBC1 right now, and I admit they don’t sound all that bad. Their new single ‘On What You’re On’ sounds like a whole different new league as compared to what they’ve done in the past, a lot more grown up as compared to their very first. I admit it’s officially beginning to grow on me. If that’s what an 11 year absence does to your music it was obviously a good thing then.

The Singles Review

KDA ft Tinashe

‘Just Say’

Sounds completely fresh and another one to listen to either in your room or on the road. Tinashe’s voice is soft and melodic and provides the hook all the way through. The lines ‘Just say that you need me’ and ‘Just say that you love me’ just goes round your head. Fresh and original, I can definitely see this doing well. KDA and Tinashe are amazing new artists waiting to be heard.

Twin Atlantic

‘Heart and Soul’

3 minutes 48 seconds and completely rocking. Fantastic track from the Scottish lads, courtesy of Sam McTrusty’s superb vocals and Barry McKenna’s backing. Excellent guitar riffs with some bagpipes in the background giving the track a good, steady build-up. Just another reminder of their musical genius, and why they’re one of Scotland’s best bands yet

Vic Mensa

‘Down on my luck’

Now this is one amazing track by new artist Vic Mensa. The track itself starts off a bit like background music before gradually building up and Vic’s voice just cuts straight through and suddenly you’ve got this beautiful dance track. Down on my luck sounds like something you’ve probably not heard of before and is a fresh new sound. Quite simply brilliant.

Adele, BMTH & Kungs on Radio 1

Just been driving back from work today and these were 3 tracks that I heard and they sounded amazing

Adele: Water Under The Bridge

BMTH: Oh No

Kungs (ft Ephemerals): I Feel So Bad

Anything by Adele needs no introduction as anything by her speaks for itself, not a huge fan of BMTH (Bring Me The Horizon) but I admit the track sounded alright and I’ve never heard of Kungs till now but this track was a beauty. The 1st and 3rd I’d definitely recommend for a drive-time selection.

Emeli Sande on The Graham Norton Show

Am currently listening to Emile Sande’s new single ‘Breathing Underwater’ and it’s pure listening pleasure. Her voice is both soothing,  haunting and is completely captivating, all at the same time. This is just another reminder of why she’s the brilliant artist that she is. Melodic, soothing, and gospel voice and the song just flows freely. One of Scotland’s best singers.

Olly Murs on The Graham Norton Show

Currently watching former X-Factor singer Olly Murs sing his latest track ‘Years and Years’, and it’s not all that bad and I’ll admit Olly’s got a good voice for the song. The song however doesn’t really appeal to me though it does sound upbeat. Nice light display during the performance and the backing singers seem quite good. Sadly I won’t be rushing to get the single anytime soon. The song from his from his new album 24 Hours

Coldplay on The Graham Norton Show

Currently watching Coldplay perform their new single Everglow right now on The Graham Norton Show on BBC1, absolutely incredible. Well it’s mainly him and his guitarist Jonny Buckland playing but still give as good. It’s a bit like having your very own personal gig. This is just another reminder of the musical genius that is Chris Martin and the band. Soothing, melodic and as always Chris vocals are both haunting and captivating. Nice touch with the flowers and candles on the piano.

Sting on The Graham Norton Show

Currently watching Sting perform his new single I Can’t Stop Thinking About You on The Graham Norton Show on BBC1 at the moment, it’s a great song to kick back to. For me this is another reason why I’m a fan of both Sting and his band The Police, total rock legend. Sting has got one hell of a set of lungs on him and knows how to play a guitar. Total legend.
